GRATITUDE FRIDAY.

Things that brought me great joy this week:

–The Lumineers concert was so good. It was everything I knew it would be–lots of loudly singing along and foot stomping and hand clapping. I smiled like a big dork through the entire thing.

–I spent Sunday with my friend Liz who was in town visiting before her wedding in two weeks! It was a delight to see her and gab for several hours.

–I am reading Frederick Buechner’s The Yellow Leaves and boy is it good.

–I’m looking forward to doing some running this weekend and then some dip eating during the Super Bowl (Go Falcons!)

RESTORATIVE IS THE WORD OF THE DAY. MAYBE WEEK.

I had a lovely weekend. I had a fancy brunch downtown with my two lovely friends, Kate and Jenny. We hadn’t been together, the three of us, in quite awhile, so it was lovely to gab and catch up. It was a grey day, so I decided to head home (after stopping at Michael’s to buy some cross-stitching materials) and watch Buffy and cross-stitch for the REST OF THE DAY. I’m not kidding. But actually, it was quite nice and restorative.

This is an old pic (from last weekend) but it captures my vibe lately. There is something magical about counted cross-stitch–you start with a blank canvas and follow a pattern and then, all of the sudden, you have something. Now if only the same thing would happen in my real life!

OH FRIDAY. I’M SO HAPPY TO SEE YOU.

I got nothing on my To Do list accomplished this week. Work was very stressful and when at home in my tiny apartment, I just couldn’t muster the energy. I did manage to exfoliate my face this morning and I feel like a new person! Hopefully, I will relax and recharge this weekend–although I’m supposed to run a race on Saturday so we’ll see. I didn’t even have a chance to pull links from the interwebs. Instead, I offer this pretty picture and the hope that next week will be easier!

GETTING OUT OF DODGE.

This week has been a week. But, I’m off to St. Louis tomorrow. I’m running a half marathon (my first) on Sunday, so that’ll be an adventure. Then I’m hanging out in the midwest for a few days before jetting off to Chicago to meet friends for a roadtrip to Michigan for a wedding. It’ll be lots of fun. I don’t promise to blog a lot–but I’m sure you can check out the fun times on instagram.
