Well, I had to work on Friday, so I didn’t quite get a three-day weekend. I did, however, find time to go to a barre class which, in turn, rendered me incapable of basic movement. That is to say, I am quite sore. Oh well. I ventured downtown to meet my friend Liz for a indulgent day of brunch and shopping on Saturday. We had brunch in Soho where we enjoyed some ricotta beignets. Yummo. We then traipsed down Prince Street where we discovered the Birchbox store and spent some time looking at lovely beauty products. I could have a real problem if I let myself. We got lost in the downtown Bloomingdales–and by lost I mean we spent a lot of time on what I call the “aspirational” floors. We then settled in at a Nolita bar where we enjoyed an afternoon cocktail before venturing to New Jersey to meet friends and see fireworks.
We had a perfect view of the Statue of Liberty and the Jersey City fireworks display from my friend Kate’s balcony. What a treat! I should add that watching fireworks in the city or from a high-rise is so bizarre because of the echo–it really sounds like we are being attacked–either by bombs or dinosaur. And on Sunday, I rested. And cleaned my apartment. And watched NCIS on Netflix. Because, you know, why not?
