Well, we had the old office Christmas Party on Wednesday night–and by some strange miracle we were able to get the entire show finished, taped, and in the can by 9:15pm–and I made it to said party. Why can’t we do this every night?! I asked repeatedly, only to be met with blank stares and the words Hahaha no. Anyway, it was a fun party. I had too much fun.
In my recovery stupor yesterday, I discovered it was the 15th anniversary of the release of one of my favorite movies “You’ve Got Mail.” It is always surprising to me that I like this movie, but it has grown on me over the years–and particularly now that I live on the Upper West Side.
I remember going to see this movie in the theaters with my nerdy group of middle school friends and being so annoyed that the plot was basically a rip off of “Pillow Talk”. I mean come on, party lines/chat rooms, Rex Stetson/Joe Fox. And Dave Chappelle is no Tony Randall. I’m sure I spoke disparagingly of it, in a loud voice, and was met with blank stares.
Now though, I enjoy finding this movie on TV (or popping my DVD in) and settling myself in for some sweater sets and the Upper West Side. And PS this movie is so much better than “Sleepless in Seattle.” I can’t even watch that.
