A LOVELY WEEKEND RECAP.

I had an uncharacteristically busy weekend–full of fun and treats and running. (woof). Saturday, I travelled to the Brooklyn Bowl for my dear friend Jenny’s birthday party. I can’t tell you the last time I went bowling–but I’m pretty sure my form and skill-level have not progressed since approximately third grade.

There was a party of middle schoolers in the lanes next to us. They made me glad I’m old. And not just because we could order pitchers of beer.

After our bowling time ended, the birthday girl wanted to dance. So we did. There’s something about mid-afternoon dance parties that just feels so right, you know?

On Sunday, I enjoyed a quiet day. I thought about my to-do list for this week. Watched some Gossip Girl on DVD and walked around the lovely Upper West Side.

And then on Monday, a holiday, mind you, I ran a 10K with my dear friend Hallie. The race was two loops around Roosevelt Island–and, oh man, it was not easy. But, we finished and then brunched. And I had a lovely sense of accomplishment. That carried me through my work evening–because, you know, the news never stops.

UPDATE: I also traveled to Hoboken for a different birthday party, Saturday night. My friend Jenn taught all the hapless Manhattan-ites how to take the bus to New Jersey from Port Authority. We waited in the wrong queue and then had to scamper down steps and up different steps in order to catch our bus. Quelle dramz.
