Well, personal morning, really. I read last night in New York Magazine about the Dutch Painters exhibit at the Frick–and when I woke up this morning in a funk, knowing I would spend my time obsessing about work, I decided to get out of my apartment, into the air (it isn’t that fresh). And so I traversed Central Park and landed at The Frick. The exhibit closes this weekend so, naturally, the line stretched around the block.
After an hour, I’d waited too long to turn back, so I waited another 1/2 hour. But finally I made it in. And I saw Vermeer’s Girl with a Pearl Earring and Rembrandt’s Portrait of an Elderly Man. The wait was long and cold–but it did take my mind off work–and did make me feel a bit like I was living in New York and not just existing there. So, mission accomplished!
um, did you forget the little Goldfinch? biggest star of the exhibition?
