Naturally, over Christmas, I watched several movies. I saw “Saving Mr. Banks” and “American Hustle”–and somehow seeing two Oscar contenders, made me want to see many more. I receive screeners from the WGA, so it’s not like I am paying to see these movies at the theater–which is good since most of them are highly overrated.

Anyway, I was very excited to receive “Her” in the mail last week. What a treat to see Joaquin Phoenix looking clean and thin and not crazy. The movie was okay–but I did have a hard time understanding Scarlett Johannson’s dialogue most of the time. Sound mixing is such a lost art.

I don’t think the movie is going to change your life or anything, but as I said, it was nice to see Joaquin and the futuristic LA backdrop is pretty and the music is soothing. And sometimes, that’s all you need in a movie.
